The “Santa Cruz Industrial District: Boosting a Circular Industrial Ecosystem” event is an acceleration session at the World Circular Economy Forum 2025 (WCEF2025.com).

WCEF2025 will bring together visionary thinkers and practitioners, showcasing the changemakers in the circular economy. The forum will take place from May 13 to 16 in São Paulo, Brazil. 

WCEF2025 is jointly organized by the Finnish Innovation Fund Sitra, FIESP (Federation of Industries of the State of São Paulo), CNI (National Confederation of Industry of Brazil) and SENAI-SP (National Service for Industrial Training of Brazil), in close collaboration with international partner organizations.

The Acceleration Session “Santa Cruz Industrial District: Boosting a Circular Industrial Ecosystem” will be held in a hybrid format, free of charge, and open to all online.

For in-person participation, attendance is limited to 54 people at the AEDIN headquarters – Association of Companies of the Santa Cruz Industrial District, located at Avenida Átila Temporal, 1190, Santa Cruz, Rio de Janeiro/RJ.

Online participation is open to all, allowing interested parties from anywhere to follow the event without restrictions.

 

Acceleration Session

Opportunities for industrial symbiosis in the Santa Cruz Industrial District will be explored, focusing resource efficiency, shared water and effluent management, innovative technologies, and energy transition. The discussion will take place on the 16th, between 9 am and 12 pm, and will addressing resource reuse, biogas and low-carbon hydrogen production, as well as carbon capture and utilization (CCUS) technologies and P2X concepts.

These initiatives drive the circular economy, reducing emissions and optimizing the use of natural resources, in line with global sustainability goals. Unprecedented data on symbiotic mapping will be presented, highlighting of opportunities and technological projects that strengthen local development and benefit communities and small entrepreneurs. Additionally, practical examples and ongoing initiatives will demonstrate the transformative potential of the Santa Cruz Industrial District, consolidating it as a national reference in the circular economy.
